Sitecore Modules by Pentia

Development of modules for Sitecore is a dedicated business area for us.

As well as Sitecore’s own modules, Pentia offers a wide range of self developed modules for Sitecore. The modules are typically developed with a starting point in a specific customer case, where one or more of Pentia’s customers have participated with sparring and input.

Pentia PDF module for Sitecore

The Pentia PDF for Sitecore can be used for 2 purposes:

In its simple form, the Pentia PDF for Sitecore is used to generate a PDF document from a Sitecore webpage. This is done by creating a PDF layout. A PDF layout contains information about the PDF document’s paper format (A4, A5, US Letter, …), margins, header and footer layers and water marks or other things that are repeated for each page. The text from Sitecore’s web page is rendered with a PDF device, paired with the PDF layout and a webpage is created.

In its advanced form, Pentia PDF for Sitecore is used to generate user specific PDF documents. Based on the selections from the end user, or even on information collected in the Sitecore Online Marketing Suite (OMS), a customized user specific PDF file will be generated on-the-fly. This can be used, to let the end-user choose chapters that should be included in a book. The PDF document is generated, complete with front page, table of contents, page numbering etc. Generation is extremely fast, as every chapter is pre-rendered when a website is published. In existing customer solutions, the module generates 800 pages in less than 10 seconds. A demo is available here and you can get the user manual for the PDF module here.

Advanced Sitecore Google Maps (WCAG Edition)

It is important to be able to show your users, where locations and areas are located. Accessibility is often an overlooked aspect of map solutions, because the tools available are not Accessible. To meet the Accessibility requirements of WCAG 2.0 level AA, Pentia have created Advanced Sitecore Google Maps (WCAG Edition).

With the Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module, you can show  where your offices are, mark your football fields and parks. You can show where to meet for the next event. The Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module offers a lot of possibilities and features.

Google Maps from Google is a great tool, that you can make to your tool with this module. End users are familiar with Google Maps, from many other sites. They know how to zoom in and out and switch between various map types. There is a possibility to show the geodetic maps, terrain maps, satellite maps and combinations. There is also, of course, route planning, so your end users can find the way to your offices.

It is becoming increasingly more important that websites are accessible. The Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module expands Google Maps features to also be accessible and meet the requirements of WCAG 2.0 level AA and Section 508. This module is the only map solution for Sitecore, that meets the WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

Lix for Sitecore

In 2008 almost no websites passed the Automated Readability Index (ARI) or in Danish Lix on the Danish website quality test Best On The Net. ARI or Lix is a readability test designed to gauge the understandability of a text and therefore it makes sense that it is a Best On The Net criteria.

Because the Lix number is part of the Best On The Net criteria Pentia has developed the module for Sitecore CMS. The module is easily installed on Sitecore CMS. This means that Sitecore based websites are able to improve thier possibilities against the competition.

For the Editor it is very easy. The Lix number can be checked automatically and/or as required. When the Lix number is automatically checked,it is marked with a red bar beside the text if it is difficult to read.

Messages that are easy to read

Even if you are not taking part in Best On The Net it makes common sense to be aware of the Lix number. Websites are information channels and information channels should be kept clear of noise. Language that is hard to understand naturally effects how well your message is received. The Lix number reveals how easy your message is to understand.
Young people and children cannot read texts with a high Lix number, like adults can. The Lix number of the message should therefore match the target groups reading skills. In Lix for Sitecore CMS it is therefore possible to manage the value for when a text exceeds the limit.
