It is important to be able to show your users, where locations and areas are located. Accessibility is often an overlooked aspect of map solutions, because the tools available are not Accessible. To meet the Accessibility requirements of WCAG 2.0 level AA, Pentia have created Advanced Sitecore Google Maps (WCAG Edition). In addition it is the most feature rich standard implementation of Google Maps for Sitecore there is.

With the Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module, you can show where your offices are, mark your dealers, mark your football fields and parks. You can show where to meet for the next event or allow for your end users to search for the nearest dealer or football field. The Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module offers a lot of possibilities and features.

Google Maps from Google is a great tool, that you can make to your tool with this module. Users are familiar with Google Maps, from many other sites. They know how to zoom in and out and switch between various map types. There is a possibility to show the geodetic maps, terrain maps, satellite maps and combinations. There is also, of course, route planning, so your users can find the way to your offices.

It is becoming increasingly more important that websites are accessible. The Advanced Sitecore Google Maps module expands Google Maps features to also be accessible and meet the requirements of WCAG 2.0 level AA and Section 508. This module is the only map solution for Sitecore, that meets the WCAG 2.0 Level AA.

The features of the module

Advanced Sitecore Google Maps (WCAG Edition) has an extensive number of features that can be used out-of-the-box.

You can create any number of maps via a Google Maps editor inside Sitecore.
Create an arbitrary number of markers. Markers can be placed by searching for an address, company name, etc. The Google Maps Search does not necessarily know the exactly location of number 1104 on Main Street. Therefore, you can drag and drop the marker to place the it at the correct place.
Assign icons to the markers. The icons can either be uploaded to Sitecore's media library or you can use the icons from the included library.
Create polygons to select an arbitrarily large area. Polygons are edited with a WYSIWYG editor in Sitecore and you can choose their appearance.
Create lines, to mark a route. They are edited with a WYSIWYG editor in Sitecore and you can choose their appearance.
Assign an arbitrary number of groups of markers, polygons and lines to a map.
You can group markers, polygons and lines into groups and hierarchies of groups.
You can assign icons to groups, that are Inherited to all or just some markers in the groups.
Let your end users search for the nearest markers.
Determine the center of the map by address search or drag'n'drop when the address Google is not entirely accurate.
Choose between several different zoom controls, small, large, flat, 3D etc.
Determine which map types to be available, for example. satellite and normal map.
Upload your own bitmap image and use as a over lay on your map, e.g. for caricatured maps.
You can choose between many different presentations of the map.
Choose between three different ways to filter many markers on a map (see example).
Associate an accessibility view so the map is available in relation to the WCAG standard and Section 508.
Associate local search and maps, to limit search to the map portion displayed.
Associate text, alternate text, addresses and much more to markers, polygons and lines
Importing markers from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
