Personalestyrelsen

Digitalization of the Personale Administrativ Vejledning (Administrative Personnel Guide)

Pentia has implemented Personalestyrelsens (The State Employers' Authority) new website – PAV, which is a computerized version of the existing handbook. The site is fully dynamic with among other things Digital Identity and generic generation of PDF handbooks created directly from site content.

PAV gives an overview of the rules relating to wages and employment conditions for civil servants and public employees, as well as others within the state.

A central part of the project was the advanced generation and handling of PDF files, which is managed by Pentia’s generic PDF module for Sitecore. The module generates a print publication with a special layout from a Sitecore website. The user can, for example, choose to dynamically collate the publication from the web content. The conversion encompasses the transformation of PAV in its current XML form to a computerized form.

Regarding size, there are approx. 1200 pages of 1600 characters spread over 35 chapters. The solution can manage 2500 visitors per day with an average visiting time of 19 minutes. The visitors generate approximately 22000 page impressions per day. There are 30 internal users.

PAV utilize a login function either via use of a Digital Signature or username/password. The administrative guide is a reference work split into chapters. The entire guide can be printed as a PDF with the help of the Sitecore PDF module, developed by Pentia A/S.

With this system Personalestyrelsen have achieved significant efficiency gains as PAV no longer needs to be printed and distributed as a hard copy. It is now the user that prints the publication if they want their own book. By being able to skip chapters that are not relevant for the user, there is also a significant paper saving.
